Police sizure of vehicle plates of parked car on private property. Police Attempted Intimidation

Hello,

This morning I had my personal vehicle parked in a private parking lot of a small plaza.

I imported this vehicle from the US but never plated it because I haven't needed to drive it. I do have several other cars to drive.

A constable came in to the plaza searching for the owner. I informed the officer that the vehicle is mine. He then asked me why I have more than 1 plate on the vehicle. We walked outside to the parking lot and he showed me that there was another plate sandwiched beneath the top license plate.

He asked for the ownership and insurance .I showed him the ownership & insurance. He pulled out a knife and attempted to remove the license plate. I responded by pulling out my camera and videotaping him in the act.

He asked me to stop videotaping. I politely asked why. He then immediately searched me, confiscated my phone, and put me in the backseat of his cruiser.

He turned off my camera on my phone before he barraged me with profanity and insults.

He then went over and completed removing the plates of the vehicle.

After doing so he came back to the cruiser and requested a photo ID.

I gave him my health card.

After a few minutes he began to threaten me that my vehicle would be seized by the RCMP.

After 5 or so more minutes passed he handed me my health card back (did not hand back my driver’s license).

He told me, "I am satisfied with who you are. I am seizing your plates because they are not yours." I informed him that this was private property and he responded that I should check in with the ministry of transport laws.

I asked for some sort of documentation showing his seizure of the license plates, "he said he will make notes."

Just before parting ways he told me, "You'll be seeing me again."

I told him that I would be consulting a lawyer about subsequently filing complaints. His response was, "I couldn’t care less."

Would you folks here be kind enough to give me some advice or steer me in the right direction.

I've got most of the interaction on video. I would have all of i had he not confiscated my cell phone.

What are my options here?

What you do?

Thank you for your input
