Moving with my children from one province to another

Hello

I am a mother of two ages 4 and 6. My ex and I terminated our
relationship a year ago and since then I had been speaking with him about me
moving from Ontario to Alberta due to employment. In the begging he was
supportive but recently he has “changed his mind.” We have nothing in writing
and we have not gone through the courts to determine who has full, joint, or
sole custody of our girls. Over the last 6 months he has chosen not to spend
time with his children and they have voiced that they do not want to spend the
night at there fathers house. I have not been forcing them to do so and I have
had them in counselling to deal with the issues that they have towards him but
they still don’t feel comfortable and because to this there father has chosen
not to spend time with them during the day and has threatened to file for full custody.
Now because I am unable to find work here I would like to move to Alberta, I
have been offered a Job and can start as early as next week. I have spoken with
my children about how there would feel (they also knew that a move would be
happening in the future) and I have also secured housing and can have my
children enrolled in school a month after it starts. So I guess I am asking what
should I do legally. Can I take my children and move to another province? What would
be the right steps? I don’t want to move and have it considered in the courts
eyes that I am abducting my children.

Thank you for your time and look forward to hearing your
answer to my questions
